I already commented on this article, but I had not realized you included me in your writer friends list. What an honor! Thank you so much Dr. Yildiz for your wisdom and kindness. I have learned so much from you. When you contacted me with suggestions for my 10-year cancer free anniversary story made it a better vehicle to get that information to others. Like you, I was so upset that Medium did not opt to Boost that story and greatly appreciated how you, Mike @drmikebroadly, and Aiden @aidenmc continued to organically boost the story within your publications. I have not shared my Cancer Free story here yet, but I will do that right now. I will mention you all again when I do. Thanks again for your support and encouragement.
Thank you Dr. Yildiz for sharing this information! I followed you to Substack because I trust you and your opinion. I am glad I did. I am still learning how to do this here, but I will get it :)
Scammers abound everywhere. Twitter is now full of women selling sex. Instagram and TikTok are full of predators preying upon authors and artists. We're liking Substack. Thanks, Dr Yildiz, for the very descriptive article regarding the situation on Medium/Substack. 💙Anneliese
Thanks for sharing this vital info, Dr. Yildiz. It is important for everyone to be vigilant, as you get strange and crazy people out there who are mostly too lazy to find a real job and rather want to profit from the detriment of others.
Thank you for the informative piece. This is a very pragmatic and practical advice for us to beware! I wonder if these scammers are reading these posts?! :D
I'm sorry, but why is this image of a Black man included? I'm not sure what your intention is here, but it bothers me. I haven't read the story yet, but please be mindful of how you represent my people. This is really frustrating to always see us in negative images. Be very careful and mindful. I am glad you are warning people but this image is not necessary. Please think of using a more appropriate image.
Here it is in plain English for you courtesy of AI: In U.S. history, different racial groups have often been affected by the way they are shown in pictures and stories. These images can make it very hard for people to feel good about themselves and reach their full potential.
Hey there. Your message makes no sense, as there are two people in that photo and they are different in ethnicity. If they were both black people, your message would have been justified.
Hello dear friend, thank you for this valuable feedback. When choosing that image from stock photos I did not think about the person but the emotions created by photo. Yes, you are right about the subliminal effects of images in the USA where systemic racism is widespread. I will be happy to learn about choosing better images for my stories. It is an area where I need to develop skills. How about this new image from the same photographer with two person reflecting different looks? Do you think it might still creates such impression or should I just choose a plain cover image as I do for my scientific articles like this one https://dryildiz.substack.com/p/will-car-t-cell-therapies-work-for
I ask your opinion gain insights on nuances of using better images on Substack as I am new here.
I have recently come across a scammer on Substack. Someone first requested me to have a look at their Substack Notes...started a conversation which seemed genuine and a few days after asked for money because they lost a lot of money in stocks. Nobody asks money from strangers on social media regardless of how bad their situation is. Beware people!!
I got a whatsapp message from a fake Ryan Holiday on Medium like 5 days in a row! It was crazy. I’d report it as spam/scam then it would disappear and then a new account would be created the same day. It was just a whack a mole. I gave up on reporting them because it was happening so frequently
Thanks so much for the warnings! I hadn’t heard of this until now.
Thank you for this!! Very grateful.
Thank you so much for spreading awareness about this important topic. I appreciate the mention.
Strong article. Full of great advice. I got invited on Telegram for a Crypto scam.
Pay attention.
The post office will not send you texts
The bank will not send you texts asking to affirm your details
The tax office (which ever company) won’t email you asking to login.
Also a nice technique, right click the button and ‘copy link address’. Paste it into the browser, private, and DO NOT HIT ENTER!
Example, tax office said I was due a rebate, so I copied the link and the link was for a weird website ending in .au. Australia. Not my country.
It is hard, they are getting clever. Hopefully @chinmayan here can post regularly sharing insights and we can prevent more scammers x

As a person who studied the effects of racism in our mental health and also experienced it myself I have deep compassion for the victims. I wrote several articles about it and also supported many writers through my publications on Medium curating stories about racism and equality. Here is a sample story to reflect my research, perspectives, and experience. https://medium.com/illumination/understanding-the-nuances-of-racism-and-casteism-through-ethnographic-studies-61f734adc4f5
Nice to meet you and I look forward to your further feedback.

I just saw a guy I'm subscribed to that has been impersonated here :/ But the displayed name was a bit different (é instead of e)
