For me, and I am sure for most of us writers, the posts take time to research, edit, make sure they sound right, find images, and so on. Then to only make maybe $0.30 or less just isn't worth it. I miss the wonderful camaraderie of Illumination on Medium but I needed to move forward with other projects.As a result of the many articles on writing that I wrote for Illumination and Synergy on Medium, I have now put them together and self published a book called 'Other Words are Available'.I have also begun an account on Substack with the same name.I will publish all the details as soon as distribution is up and running.Thank you Dr M Y for helping me along the way ( and I am now 73 yrs old so another older writer learning new skills).

Your community leadership in helping me and many other writers and readers is exceptional and commendable. I believe in your vision and will support your mission fully. I became a founding member of your Health and Wellness, supporting fellow healthcare workers. I also completed Aiden's Udemy courses and got my certificates. However, my busy schedule, especially with young grandkids, does not allow me to write much on Medium or Substack, but I am inspired to turn my research manuscripts and memoirs into short stories soon. This story reflects your authentic servant leadership. I honestly wish Medium had a CEO like you—or like Chris Best. Sadly, they've ruined what was once an incredible community through mediocrity and poor decisions. I still write here, but I’m deeply disappointed with Medium. They even put me in distribution jail.
It’s not about the money—I used to earn around $500 a month when I first joined, but now, despite having hundreds of stories, I barely make $12 monthly.
What changed? I cared about Medium. I upgraded to Friend of Medium (FoM), reported spam and scams, and stood up for truth. But once I started questioning the system, their curators stopped distributing my work. They even censored my Health and Science publication, driving away many scholarly scientists and medical doctors.
I don’t care much anymore, but I still post here for the wise reasons you mentioned.
