As a Freelance Writer, Which Writing Platform(s) Do You Prefer?
An online poll to identify the effectiveness of major writing platforms with feedback from participants
Dear Subscribers,
I created this poll as an example for the next chapter of my book, Substack Mastery, to guide my readers and encourage them to use this valuable and interactive tool on Substack. As a researcher, I have long benefited from using polls in my profession, and I will cover these advantages in the upcoming chapter.
In my circles, freelance writers use various platforms to effectively develop and market their content. Some platforms resonate better with certain writers for personal reasons, and while some may find success on one platform, others might achieve similar results elsewhere.
To better understand which platforms resonate most with our community, I created this poll titled, "As a Freelance Writer, Which of the Following Platforms Do You Find Effective for Your Content Development & Marketing Strategy?
I invite you to participate in this poll. Your input will be invaluable in helping us tailor future content to serve our needs better. It will also foster a collaborative environment where we can share insights and strategies and learn from each other's experiences.
Since polls are usually quantitative in nature, I encourage you to leave comments explaining your choice of platform and what aspects resonate with you. Your feedback will provide qualitative data, which I can use to write a follow-up article for our writing community.
Feel free to also share which platforms you benefit from as a reader, as writers are often good readers, too.

Community Building on Substack Bridging with Other Platforms
Integrating Substack with Medium is a great idea. To this end, as a community builder, I created a philanthropic organization that will empower creators, freelance writers, and content entrepreneurs with a commercial arm. Health and Wellness by Dr Mehmet Yildiz
I use only Medium and Substack but I started liking Substack more as Medium censored my important public health stories and did the same to the stories of qualified healthcare professionals contributing to my Health and Science pub. If they don't censor content Medium is a great platform. So to share my content with a broader audience I now prefer Substack. I also cancelled my Friends of Medium subscription for this reason and will not renew it until they stop censorship.
Although I still write, edit, and curate on Medium, my preference is now Substack because my stories get no organic views and my account gets no followers. Medium curators simply put me in a virtual distrubution jail and I no longer care about their subjective taste. Medium is just another tool and I love the community that I created through through my gaming and videos/podcasts publications. I also plan to spend more time in blogging and YouTube which are my main interests. Therefore I rebranded Illumination's community channel to Substack Mastery to create valuable tutorial and also promote the work of our subscribers on Substack. I will start the project with a team of YouTubers soon. Thank you for creating this valuable poll Dr Yildiz. I also read the Chapter 17 of your Substack Mastery book and gained new insights from it.
